The Mars spacecraft InSight detected the largest ‘earthquake’ ever recorded on another planet in early May. It was 5 on the Richter scale. In total, the probe has already detected more than 1,300 earthquakes on the surface of Mars. This is valuable knowledge about the processes taking place on the Red Planet.
For many years, Mars looked like a calm and extinct planet. The situation changed after 2018, when the InSight probe landed a seismograph on the surface of Mars.
