Last Minute: Apple Studio Display, Mac Studio oraz Apple M2

Tomorrow is Apple’s first event in 2022. Over the weekend, there was some interesting news from the “Last Minute” series, regarding what we could see tomorrow at 19:00 on the Steve Jobs Theatre.

According to Marek Gorman, Z BloombergApple finished work on the new screen a few months ago and will unveil it at an Apple event tomorrow.

The display is planned to be affordable for all consumers, and unfortunately – from the Polish point of view – it costs about half the cost of Pro Display XDR, which gives about 2,500 US dollars to 15,000 PLN.

New Mac mini / Mac Studio and Apple M2

The reason why Apple has to wait with the premiere of a budget monitor is to be the new Mac mini or Mac Studio (a combination of the Mac mini with something completely new – it probably has to do with the body), which the company simply has to do is offer a monitor that is cheaper than Pro Display XDR .

From the information he obtained 9to5Mac It follows that the new Mac Studio is supposed to be based primarily on the Mac mini, but at the same time much more powerful. In addition, it is available in two versions. The first is the inclusion of an Apple M1 Max processor (like the 2021 MacBook Pro), and the second is likely to receive the new Apple M2 chip.

According to our sources, the new Mac studio is known internally by the codename “J375”.

Gorman also states that:

“According to the sources, Apple has been testing several Macs with a new chip that includes an octa-core processor and 10 GPU cores. This is exactly the specifications of the Apple M2.”

There will be no iMac Pro

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has denied rumors that Apple will introduce a new iMac Pro.

According to Kuo, the aforementioned 27-inch Apple Studio Display will appear, without the LED bulb.

Kuo seems to confirm my hypothesis that Apple will update the existing line of 24-inch base iMacs with an Apple M2 processor, which will likely allow you to buy 32GB of RAM. And for many years, it would be the only consumer iMac that Apple would sell. At least until the actual debut of the Pro model. According to Ku, it will take place in 2023.

Apple’s new desktop product predictions:
1. 2022: A more powerful Mac mini and an affordable external display (27-inch without mini-LED).
2. 2023: Mac Pro and iMac Pro.

This makes sense, because maintaining an identical machine in performance, which differs only by a larger diameter of 3 inches, does not make sense at all.

The 24-inch iMac with an M2 processor and 32GB of RAM is exactly the computer I’ve been waiting for.
