Olympique Lyonnais wants to part with Marcelo early

Marcelo’s adventure with Olympique Lyon may soon be over, Footmercato.net writes.

The 34-year-old defender, who once represented the colors of Wisla Krakow, joined Lyon in 2017. Since then, the Brazilian has played 167 matches for his jersey. In March, he signed a new agreement with the club, which obliges both parties until June 30, 2023. But according to French journalists, Marcelo may now leave him.

According to the above source, the OL authorities simply want to terminate the contract with the player. Currently, the terms of such a move are being negotiated.

Recently, Peter Boss became Lyon’s coach. His team did not perform well in the new season. After a draw in the opening session with Brest (1: 1), he lost to Angers 0: 3. Marcelo played 90 minutes in these matches.

However, it is not the athletic form that is supposed to be the reason for the decision to part with Marcelo, and his behavior immediately after the match with Angers – as L’Equipe journalists believe.

The Brazilian is not the only player to have weakened his position lately. At the end of the summer window, expect more moves from the French club’s management.

Lyon will face Clermont Foote in the upcoming Ligue 1 series (22 August).
