Babsun does not underestimate the Super Cup
The competition for the Polish Super Cup in Poznań is the start of the 2022/23 season and – as Papszun says – “closes” the previous games.
Rago’s coach has no doubt that this will be an important encounter for him and his team.
– This is a match between the champions and runners-up of Poland. So I am a bit surprised by the attitude of some journalists and activists who blame the depreciation of the Super Cup. However, this is a competition for the trophy, not a zero-sum competition – he stressed.
The Red and Blue coach was not convinced by Legg’s attempt to postpone Saturday’s game, which will face Karabakh Akhtam in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier next week.
– Coach Jan van den Brom says Lecce have two equal elevens, so he should have no problem fielding a strong squad for Saturday and the trip to Baku. We don’t have two equal elevens, our strength is team stability and chemistry – he said.
– I am surprised that some media are approaching this match like this. In my opinion this is not good as it devalues the league. If anyone says the cup match is void, they are not telling the truth. Everyone wants to win trophies, postponing this match is a trivial topic – said the coach of the Częstochowa club.
On Saturday, Andrzej Niewulis and Marcin Cebula, who have not yet recovered from injuries from the previous season, and Tomas Petrasek, who returned from the Czech national team with an injury, were certainly missing in Raków.
For both Raków and Lech, Saturday’s game will be very prestigious, as these teams met three times in the previous season, and Lech did not win even once. A 2:2 draw in the league in Czestochowa and a 1-0 win for Rakow in Poznań, in the final of the Polish Cup at BGE Narodowi in Warsaw, Rakow beat “Colejors” 3:1.
Polish Super Cup match for Lech Poznań – Raków Częstochowa on Saturday 9 July at 20.10.
