According to the information provided by Tauron, among the data that was seized Names, surnames, phone numbers, PESEL numbers, email addresses, dates of birth or addresses of energy collection points. The hackers managed to gain access to this information from two different companies that work with the power supplier.
Torun adds that precautions have been taken to minimize the effects of the spill. Here, however, it must be borne in mind that the above data, such as PESEL numbers, can be used by fraudsters to impersonate victims, which must be taken into account.
It should be noted that scammers have impersonated Torun in the past. In this way, among other things, False messages with information about electricity bills. In fact, it was to be used to grab victims’ data.
