It was officially celebrated in May 2015.

For those who did not know, Dragon Ball Day is celebrated on the 9th of May, otherwise known as Goku Day, and the day has been officially celebrated since May 2015.

According to the Dragon Ball official website page, Goku Day is an official anniversary approved and registered by the Japan Anniversary Association.

Why May 9? Well, since in Japan the date is written in the order 5/9, and since 5 and 9 can be read as “Go” and “Ku”, the numbers combine to form the Japanese kanji for Goku. Therefore, May 9 became Goku Day.

The “Goku Day” movement was born in Japan and quickly spread around the world. This day is celebrated not only in Saiyan, but for the entire franchise.

On social networks, anime fans from all over the world have posted posts that hint at our day.

It is one of the most famous anime series in the world. The franchise created by Akira Toriyama is more than 30 years old and has managed to penetrate the popular culture of dozens of countries on all continents, becoming a symbol of the convergence of societies completely different from Asia.

Japan, the country that gave birth to the saga, which experienced such an impact, decided to commemorate Dragon Ball, and especially Goku, with a day of celebration.
