Government spokesman Piotr Muller said on Tuesday that the Ditch of the Vistula Spit is one of the most important investments in terms of Poland’s security. In turn, the Central Communications Port may become a communications hub for Poland and Central and Eastern Europe in the future.

“The Vistula Spit is one of the most important investments in terms of Poland’s security,” Mueller said at the press conference.

He added: “This situation that is currently in Ukraine, the attack of Russia shows that this type of infrastructure protects us from the possible closure, for example, of ports.”

He emphasized that “in the case of a central communications port, it will provide the possibility of creating a place for a communications center throughout Poland and the whole of Central and Eastern Europe in the future.”

According to Müller, in other Western European countries, and perhaps in Central European countries, “there may be some dissatisfaction with the fact that Poland has become competitive in terms of transportation and logistics, in terms of creating better conditions for doing business here.”

“But this is the concern of these countries, and not Poland. The Polish government will make investments that are beneficial to Poland. Sometimes they require larger investments, but these investments are subsequently translated either into greater economic growth or the implementation of security principles” – is an interpreter.

“Anyone who wants to attack the Vistula Spit trench, or build a central communications port, does so as part of party games, and not as part of thinking in the public interest of Poland” – the government spokesperson noted.

The trench of the Vistula Spit includes the construction of a protective harbor from the Gulf of Gdask, a navigation channel with a lock-and-lock structure and with parking platforms from the side of the Gdask Bay and the Vistula Lagoon, as well as a new road system of swing bridges and the creation of an artificial island in the lagoon.

The total length of the new waterway from the Gulf of Gdask through Lake Vistula to Elblag is approximately 23 km, of which 2.5 km is a section consisting of a lock, an external port and parking. The entire depth of the channel and the main corridor will be 5 meters.

The Central Communications Port is a planned transport junction between Warsaw and ód. As part of this project, Solidarno Airport will be built on an area of ​​approximately 3,000 hectares. (PAP)
