The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that Real Madrid and Barcelona had concluded a non-aggression transfer agreement with each other. This means that players cannot transfer from one team to another during the term of the contract. However, there is one exception as players can move from Real Madrid to Barcelona (and vice versa) once their contract expires. On January 14, journalists from the “Sin Soncesiones” program announced that Real would like to win Ronald Araujo for free.

In the past, more than 30 players have played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona. The departure of Luis Figo caused particularly negative feelings. Apart from the Portuguese, both clubs include Luis Enrique, Michael Laudrup, Ronaldo Nazario, Samuel Eto’o and Bernd Schuster. The last player to play for both Real Madrid and Barcelona was Javier Saviola – the Argentine played for Barcelona in 2001-2007 (with loans to Monaco and Seville), and Real Madrid in 2007-2009.

Real Madrid and Barcelona remain in the European Cup Winners’ Cup. Los Blancos will face Paris Saint-Germain in the 1/8 final of the Champions League, while Barcelona will play Napoli in the 1/16 final of the European League.
