‘The Walking Dead’ will have a new spin-off: ‘Isle of the Dead’

The world of “Walking Dead” will premiere a new spin-off series in 2023, titled “Isle of the Dead”, major distributor AMC Networks reported Monday.

This new episode will consist of six chapters based on a post-apocalyptic plot developed in Manhattan (New York) and take on the characters of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) in the main series.

The exact date of the premiere has not been set, and it is not yet clear whether this series will have more than one season, which will be produced and written by Eli Gorn, who was responsible for several episodes of “The Walking Dead.”

The original series “The Walking Dead” ends this year with airing the remainder of season 11 episodes, but the series’ creators seem to want to extend the zombie world with “Isle of the Dead” and the other. “Tales of the Walking Dead” is scheduled to be released this year.

Since the series’ inception in 2010, its creators have dispensed two more times in “episodic” or related miniseries form, with “Fear of the Walking Dead” (2015) and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” (2020).

In parallel, another mini-series focusing on the characters Daryl and Carol is already being developed, and aims to release a movie based on “The Walking Dead”, in which Andrew Lincoln will bring the character of Rick Grimes to life.
